چکیده

Using high-intensity femtosecond pulses at l5264 nm, we have measured the two-photon absorption ~TPA! coefficient in three fused silica samples Suprasil, Herasil, Infrasil ~Heraeus! and in 3.5 mol % Ge-doped fused silica. While in fused silica samples the TPA coefficient value is about 2310 cm/W, in germanosilicate glass it equals (4263)310 cm/W. © 2002 American Institute of Physics. @DOI: 10.1063/1.1448387#

Intensity-dependent loss properties of window materials at 248 nm.

Transmission of fused silica, CaF(2), LiF, and MgF(2) is measured using 450-fsec, 248-nm pulses in the range 10-120 GW/cm(2). Different loss mechanisms such as scattering of transmitted radiation, color-center formation, and multiphoton absorption were studied separately. For fused silica a two-photon absorption mechanism is found, while for CaF(2), LiF, and MgF(2) three-photon absorption and a...

Defect production in silica fibers doped with Tm3+.

Defects in undoped germanosilicate fibers have a profound effect on optical properties in the visible region of the spectrum. Photoexcitation of these defects can produce a refractive-index change, which in turn can be used for many useful purposes, including the formation of gratings and second-harmonic generation in fibers. The defects responsible for this behavior have been associated with t...

TWO PHOTON TRANSITIONS IN THE OPTOGALVANIC SPECTRUM OF NEON

Seventeen two-photon transitions for neon have been observed in the 580- 635 nm spectral region for use in the spectroscopic study of its higher excited levels, which are not accessible by one-photon absorption. To compare the two and one-photon absorption signals originating from the same lower level, an effort was made to record single-photon optogalvanic spectrum in the available wavele...

Substrate Effect on Plasmon Resonance of a Gold Nanoparticle Embedded Amorphous BaTiO3 Film

Two sets of gold nanoparticles (NP) embedded in amorphous BaTiO3 films were prepared by sol-gel method using spin coating. Sample (1) is having BaTiO3 sol with 0.025 gm of Chloroauric acid dissolved in 10 ml of propan-2-ol, while sample (2) is having 0.086 gm of Chloroauric acid in the same amount of propan-2-ol. The films have been deposited on various substrates like borosilicate glass and fu...

Characterization of thermally poled germanosilicate thin films.

We report measurements of the nonlinearity profile of thermally poled low-loss germanosilicate films deposited on fused-silica substrates by PECVD, of interest as potential electro-optic devices. The profiles of films grown and poled under various conditions all exhibit a sharp peak ~0.5 microm beneath the anode surface, followed by a weaker pedestal of approximately constant amplitude down to ...
